Herdsmen kill 2 in Plateau


Two Rigwe indigenes were killed on Tuesday by herdsmen at Ancha village of Miango District, Rigwe Chiefdom of Bassa LGA of Plateau State.

They were ambushed and killed while working on their far mid afternoon.

The National Publicity Secretary, Irigwe Development Association (IDA), Davidson Malison, who confirmed the killing of the two persons, in a statement alleged: “These atrocities being committed by Fulani militia has had a gross negative effects on our people and it must be stopped.”

He said the incident had been reported to the Divisional Police Officer in charge of the Council Area while the remains of the victims had been evacuated to the morgue.

“I spoke with the Bassa DPO who said he was on his way coming to the scene.

“We were happy that there was no attack in our community in the past three weeks but this afternoon, two of our people were shot dead.

“They were gunned down by herdsmen in a village called Ancha of Miango District at mid afternoon today (Tuesday ) being 23/11/2021.

“It is rather unfortunate because they have just been confirmed dead.

“The names of those killed were, “Daniel James,32, and Zakwe Deba, 35 years old.”

Plateau police spokesman ASP Ubah Ogaba, confirmed the incident to The Nation.

He said investigation was ongoing.
