Super Eagles defender Leon Balogun has expressed joy after scoring his first goal in the colours of the senior national team.
Balogun netted the goal in the 29th minute in Nigeria’s 2-0 win over the Central African Republic in a 2022 World Cup qualifiers at the Stade Omnisports, Japoma, Douala on Sunday.
The Rangers defender volleyed home after a superb cross from Chidozie Awaziem, before going out in the second half.
The 33-year-old defender was widely criticised for his poor performance in the Thursday’s defeat, but he made amend by getting his name on the scoresheet.
“My first goal in seven years! I have been looking forward so much for it and I am happy it finally came, and on a day like this,” The Rangers of Scotland defender told the media.
