Staff in Federal Polytechnic Ede and other government institutions affected by the delay of salaries may be having a sigh of relief now, as Federal Government has taken a bold step in disbursing their hard-earned salaries.
Recall that REPUBLICAN NIGERIA reported the non-payment of salaries in several Ministries, Departments and Agencies MDAs in the federal civil service, a development which affected several government institutions, Federal Polytechnic Ede included.
REPUBLICAN NIGERIA had also reported how the development prompted the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics, Federal polytechnic Ede Chapter (ASUP) calling for a succour.
Meanwhile, the Federal government have commenced process to pay the outstanding salaries to the locked-out Ministries, Departments and Agencies MDAs, REPUBLICAN NIGERIA learnt.
This was disclosed in a schedule released by the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National planning and sighted by REPUBLICAN NIGERIA on Wednesday.
The schedule contained the warrant generated, warrant released for the shortlisted Ministries, Departments and Agencies MDAs.
Checks revealed that some of the civil servants in the affected Ministries, Departments and Agencies MDAs have started receiving their November salaries on Wednesday morning.
When contacted, the ASUP chairman, Federal Polytechnic Ede, Com Azeez I.O said ” the schedule is for the management, what we are concern about is our pay, our staff are yet to receive alert”.
Asked if the academic staff will still reconvene for a meeting come January 4, he said no going back on that as long as there is no development in terms of the resolution.
“If we didn’t receive the salary before January 3 we will reconvene for next action” Com Azeez insisted.
