UPDATE: All salary arrears cleared – Fed Poly Ede ASUP


Staff in Federal Polytechnic Ede have confirmed the receipt of their delayed salaries.

REPUBLICAN NIGERIA reports that the workers had celebrated Christmas without being given their November and December salaries, a development which affected several locked-out Ministries, Departments and Agencies MDAs due to the personnel allocation to the institution, other MDAs which was said to be exhausted for the year 2021 (plus January 2022).

Meanwhile, days after there was a relief, as the Nigerian government through the Federal Ministry of Finance, Budget and National planning reviewed the ‘blockage’ and released salaries for some affected Ministries, Departments and Agencies MDAs.

Consequently, REPUBLICAN NIGERIA reported the confirmation of November salaries by the academic staff of Federal Polytechnic Ede, while they still await that of December.

But, in the latest development, Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Federal polytechnic Ede Chapter has again confirmed the payment of December salaries to its members – Just two days to the new year.

Speaking with REPUBLICAN NIGERIA on Thursday, the ASUP chairman in the school who doubles as a Barrister, Com Azeez I.O said “ our December salaries have been paid today, as regards salaries, all salary arrears cleared.” Mr Azeez confirmed.

He, however insisted that the next action will be determined at the congress.

Some of the staff in the school also confirmed the receipt of the salaries to REPUBLICAN NIGERIA on Friday Morning.

Recall that the academic Staff in its emergency congress held on Thursday 23rd of December resolved that “all outstanding allowances should be substantially paid to its members before 25th of December.

“That the salaries of its members for November and December be paid before 3rd of January 2022.

The union had promised to reconvene for next action on the 4th of January if its demands are not met.

With the demands been ‘met’, the ASUP boss said “… the decision of the congress may be positive.”
