We will flush out criminal herdsmen, herders tell Akeredolu

Herders operating in Akure, Owo and Ose local government areas have pledged to flush out criminal herdsmen operating within their domain.

The collaboration of the herdsmen already has led to the arrest of kidnappers’ informants and other syndicates operating in the axis.

The herdsmen swore to the Holy Qur’an to give out information about the activities of criminal herdsmen to the Amotekun Corps.

Secretary of the herders’ community in Owo local government, Babaginda Umar, who spoke on Thursday at a meeting with Governor Rotimi Akeredolu said they want to do their business in peace.

He said: “No criminal herdsmen will be allowed in Ondo State. We will fish out their collaborators.”

Governor Akeredolu, who was represented by Commandant of the Ondo Amotekun Corps, Chief Adetunji Adeleye, warned the herders not to violate the Anti-Open grazing law.

“Your safety is guaranteed. Expose the bad eggs among you. This state is for all of us. You have been living here for many years but the bad ones are spoiling your names.”

The Amotekun Commander paraded suspected kidnappers arrested through the help of herdsmen.

One of them, Amodu Sende, whose gang abducted two siblings who are herders, said they operate between Ondo, Kogi and Edo State.
